How We Keep Your Roof Job on the Calendar
Roofers rarely lose a homeowner's trust over the shingles themselves. They lose it over silence: a crew that never shows, or a delay nobody mentioned. We run our calendar so you can plan your week around it.
An arrival window, not a vague day
The day before any visit, we confirm a window for when we will pull into your driveway. If we are running late on an earlier job, you get a call before that window opens, not after it closes.
Job lengths based on your roof
A single layer of shingles on a simple gable roof goes faster than two layers over a steep, cut-up roof with a chimney and dormers. We tell you which one you have and how many days we expect, including time for decking repairs if we find soft sheathing.
Weather calls made for the right reasons
Asphalt shingles rely on a factory sealant strip that bonds with warmth, and underlayment should never sit open to rain. When cold, high wind or a wet forecast would compromise the install, we move the date and tell you why, with the new date in the same call.
Updates when materials slip
Shingle colors, drip edge and gutter coil sometimes arrive late from the supplier. We check delivery before your start date so a missing pallet does not turn into a half-finished roof.
Findings you can see
We photograph what we find, from lifted tabs and cracked pipe boots to rusted step flashing. Your estimate lists each item on its own line, so you know what you are paying for and why.

How a Roof Job Runs, Day by Day
Every job follows the same sequence, so you always know what comes next and when.
- 1
You call and we set a window
Tell us what you are seeing, such as a stain on the ceiling or missing shingles after wind. We book a free inspection with a set arrival window.
- 2
Inspection and photos
We check shingles, flashing, pipe boots, vents and gutters, and look in the attic if we can reach it for staining, daylight or damp sheathing. You get photos of what matters.
- 3
Written estimate with a date range
We tell you if a targeted fix will last or if the roof has reached the end of its service life, and we explain the reasoning. The estimate includes a start window and how many working days to expect.
- 4
Work day setup and cleanup
We tarp landscaping, protect siding and windows, and keep debris in the dumpster. Each evening we run a magnetic sweeper over the lawn and driveway for stray nails.
- 5
Final walk-through
We walk the finished roof with you or send photos, check gutters and downspouts for debris, and answer any questions before we leave.
What Moves the Price of Roof Work
Two houses on the same street can need very different roofs. Price comes from what is on your roof now, what sits under it and what it takes to work up there safely. Here is what we look at before we write a number down.
Your free estimate lists labor, materials, disposal and any per-sheet decking allowance as separate lines. If opening the roof turns up something the estimate did not cover, we pause, send you pictures of it and wait for your go-ahead before any added work begins.
- Roof area and steepness
- Total square footage sets the base for shingles, underlayment and labor. A steep pitch also calls for roof jacks, harnesses and slower footwork, so it adds labor even on a roof of modest size.
- Layers to tear off
- Older homes often carry two layers of shingles. Stripping both adds labor and disposal weight, and it is the only way to see the decking underneath.
- Decking condition
- Soft OSB or rotted plank sheathing has to be replaced before new shingles go on, or nails will not hold. We note this on the estimate as a per-sheet item, since the true count is only known once the old roof is off.
- Flashing and penetrations
- Chimneys, skylights, plumbing vents and sidewalls each need flashing. Reusing tired step flashing is a common cause of leaks, so we price new flashing where it is needed.
- Materials and underlayment
- Architectural shingles, synthetic underlayment, ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys, and the type of ridge vent all change the materials line. Freeze-thaw winters make the eave protection worth the cost here.
- Access and permits
- Tight driveways, landscaping and detached garages affect where the dumpster goes and how material is carried. Permit fees are listed separately where the city requires one.

A Covington Roofer That Plans the Week With You
Roofing Covington works on the outside of your home: roofs, gutters and siding. We started from a simple idea. People can live with a roof job taking four days if they know it will take four days. What wears them down is not knowing when the crew will arrive or whether rain has canceled the day.
So we schedule carefully and call when something changes. We will tell you plainly whether a leak needs new flashing or the whole roof is at the end of its life, and we write down what we found so you can compare it with anyone else's estimate.

Questions Homeowners Ask Us
Something not covered here? (859) 249-8975
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most single-layer tear-offs on an average home take one to three working days. Two layers, a steep pitch, several chimneys or a lot of decking replacement add time. We give you our estimate of working days in writing before we start.
What happens if it rains on my scheduled day?
We watch the forecast in the days before your start and call as soon as it looks like rain, high wind or cold will interfere. We never leave bare decking exposed overnight. You get a new date in the same call, not a promise to call back later.
Can my roof be repaired, or does it need replacing?
Many leaks come from a failed pipe boot, loose step flashing or a few blown-off shingles, and those are repairs. If shingles are brittle, granules are washing into the gutters and the decking is soft in several places, patching will not hold for long. We show you photos and explain which situation you are in.
Can you help after hail or wind damage?
Yes. We inspect the roof, gutters and siding, photograph the damage and give you a written scope you can share with your insurance company. Your adjuster makes the coverage decision, but we can explain what we found and meet them at the house if you like.
What warranty do you offer?
Our work comes with a 10-year labor warranty. It covers the labor on the work we did, so if something in our installation is not right, phone us and we will look at it. Shingle manufacturers cover their own materials separately.
Do I need to be home while you work?
No. All the work happens outside. We need access to the driveway for the dumpster and material delivery, and ideally the attic if we are checking for leaks. We will let you know at the end of each day where things stand.
How do I get an estimate?
Phone us and we will set up a free estimate or free roof inspection with a confirmed arrival window. The phone is the best way to reach us, and we can answer questions about your roof on the same call.
